A Very Merry Un-Birthday

Remember when I told you that my daughter was amazing? Well I now have proof and I want to share it with all of you. After much pleading (harping) I finally got Jenna, Amara’s Mom and the best daughter ever, to start her own blog Jenna’s Random Thoughts and Recipes.

Yesterday she out did herself in honor of my Un-Birthday!

I was actually born on December 16th — waaaay to close to Christmas for my liking. It didn’t help that my Dad and my sister also had birthdays in December.

Three years ago Jenna, the awesome daughter, not only gave me permission but encouraged me to move my birthday! So I did. To anyone else out there reading this who has a birthday in December I highly recommend moving it! I appreciate Christmas so much more now and I absolutely love my birthdays! The day is all mine. No birthday gifts wrapped in Christmas paper. It has changed my whole perspective on having birthdays.

Now I know you can’t legally change your birthday like you can your name but you can change when you choose to celebrate it! I chose June 16th.

So we celebrated my birthday last night with the kids. I got to request my birthday dinner and my birthday dessert. I requested My plate of curryChicken Curry and Cherry Cobbler. Jenna has posted both recipes on her blog. Dinner was amazing! I’ve never heard my husband rave about dinner and dessert the way he did last night! The curry was wonderful and the cobbler was superb, the best I have ever had. I’m still kicking myself for not having another bowl of it. Jenna timed everything perfectly so that the cobbler was just coming out of the oven when we sat down to dinner. It was still very warm and was extra wonderful with ice cream melting into it. Why didn’t have another piece?Cherrry Cobbler with melting ice cream

I want to thank my family, especially Jenna, for making it such a wonderful birthday.

Awesome awesome idea, Kc. My baby — now 40 — was born on Dec. 21. She was indeed the best Christmas gift we’ve ever had, and we celebrate her apart from Christmas. Always have. But for those whose schedule just gets too filled up, moving it sounds good.

We could afford to move some August birthdays I think. Mine, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, and four of my 10 grandkids all came in August. Seven birthdays in a two-week period. We actively celebrate 5 of them. (They live close.) And NEVER together! Ha!

I found your daughter’s blog this past week and left her a note on her bio page.

I’ve also tweeted her blog on Twitter and will again — her photography and organization are top dollar, along with her cooking!

Think I’ll tweet yours too. This is a lovely story. 🙂

      Hi Barb,

Yes, August does sound like a rather hectic time around your house.

I’m so glad you like Jenna’s blog. I am really proud of her and you are right, she is very organized with it! I also love the fact she is a mile away and I can easily go grab samples — if her husband doesn’t take them all to work where they worship Jenna! She sent home some of those Raisin Cookies and hubby and I had them with coffee. They were so yummy I had more than just my share. She is going to be very flattered that you Tweeted her!

Glad you liked my story! Kc

Have you both beat…….my youngest daughter was born December 24! She was one of our best Christmas gifts! Didn’t exactly like being in the hospital on Christmas, though…..Had 6 year old twins at home who had to stay with Grandma. They actually were also due on Christmas day but what a surprise when they were born 2 months early and I had no idea at the time I was having twins! She does feel cheated at Christmas but it doesn’t seem like it would be the same to celebrate her birthday during another month.

We have tons of birthdays in October in our family.

I’m going to check out your daughter’s blog for her recipes.

Happy Birthday, Kc! Thanks for your help with blogging!

      Hi Jackie,

Glad to have been of help with the blogging! When your daughter gets older then you can ask her how she feels about moving her birthday — remind her that you’ll have more money for presents those 11 other months, OK maybe she shouldn’t pick October!

Hope you found a recipe you like — those Blue Ribbon Chocolate Chip Treasures are to die for!!!!!!! Why did I left my husband take them all to work? I could eat one right now! Kc
