Peanut Butter Sandwich the Cat

Amara is like most little kids. If something is funny once it will certainly be funnier the twentieth time she tells you! Grandparents are a little more tolerant of this than parents but I think that is because we only hear something for the twentieth time and not the fortieth time! Sometimes I like doing the same thing to Amara — and she loves it!

Amara has 4 cats at home but one of them is officially her cat. She named this cat Peanut Butter Sandwich because of his coloring and she was going through a phase of loving peanut butter sandwiches. Amara loved it when Grandma Kc made a picture of Peanut Butter Sandwich into “Peanut Butter Sandwich on toast on a plate” using Photoshop.

A couple of weeks ago Amara lost her second top tooth eating a peanut butter sandwich. Well of course Grandma Kc had to start teasing her and asking her

“Why did you bite your cat?”
“I didn’t bite my cat Grandma, I bit my peanut butter sandwich.”
“But isn’t your cat’s name Peanut Butter Sandwich?”
“Yes but..”
“Then why why did you bite your cat?”
“I didn’t bite my cat Grandma, I bit my peanut butter sandwich.”

Amara had another tooth come out while she was eating

She caught on to this game very quickly and has since played it for everything it was worth but then so has Grandma Kc.

Grandchildren do love repetition, and the same joke can tickle them dozens of times. That’s good, since some of us are at a time in our lives when we have trouble coming up with new material!

The other day she was telling me about the rhyme they have when people cut in line. So later I was saying “Peanut Butter, you’re a cutter”, and she’s like “How dare you talk about my cat that way” with that “how dare you” face of hers. We laughed and laughed.

Cute, cute, cute! Cute kitty, cute story, and of course, SUPER cute little granddaughter! I loved that first paragraph too. I experience the same kind of thing, but like you, since I’m grandma I listen and laugh over and over and OVER again!

I think it’s God’s way of compensating us for getting old. We repeat the same stories and the youngsters don’t mind because they do the same thing.

I love Peanut Butter Sandwich as a name for a pet cat. And, I love your teasing Amara about biting her cat. Funny!

Such a cute gal with teeth taken by a peanut butter sandwich. Amara’s smile is precious even without teeth (or maybe even more so!).

Beware the naming after favorite foods, as it continues far longer than you’d think. My “Mickey” dog is named that because it was the compromise when my youngest—in college and a Starbucks patron—begged us to name him after her favorite coffee drink because he had the same coloring. That drink was a caramel machiatto. No way was I calling my dog that, so Mickey it is.

Thank you, as always, for linking up to the GRAND Social! Happy Monday!
