It was a wonderful fun filled weekend filled with a lot of Amara! She didn’t spend the night with us and we didn’t get to have movie night but we sure had a lot of fun.
Since Jenna, Amara’s Mommy, is still recovering from her foot surgery I got to take Amara to a roller skating birthday party on Saturday afternoon and we had a blast! There is nothing more invigorating then a bunch of wound up crazy almost 7 year old kids! Amara is not an accomplished skater, yet, but we had been practicing in the neighborhood. I wish I had known we could take her skates; it might have made it easier. Her first lap around the rink and she was ready to quit. This was not fun. So we went and stood by the wall and watched the others. Just watching lasted less than 5 minutes. She could not be on the sidelines while all of her friends were out there having fun! I pointed out to her that with one exception — none of her friends could skate very well either! We saw lots of people falling. I think she was worried they would laugh at her because she couldn’t skate, nobody did and we really did have a great afternoon. The first thing out of her mouth when we left was “When can we come back?” “Can we come back tomorrow?” She knew that with everything else we had planned it wasn’t going to happen this weekend. But maybe next weekend! Grandma had fun!
Sunday morning we all went to the Youth Expo where 2 of Amara’s pieces were on “public display for the first time ever” to quote Grampy! Amara takes art classes on Saturday afternoons and her art teacher had displayed some of the students work at the Youth Expo. She was so proud and of course we are proud of her. I love that she is so well rounded. She is a scholar, an artist, an athlete, an author, a gardener and a Princess!
One of the best parts of the Youth Expo was the Petting Zoo. It was free but the food for the animals was $1, of course she had to feed them! Since we got there early, just after the fairgrounds opened, those were some starving goats! They ganged up on Amara and she loved every minute of it! That’s her Mommy clenching on to her hand in case she has to yank her out of there.
They had a big tall slide that was pretty cool, too. Amara and I laughed the entire way down it! I really do think she helps give us young.
Then Sunday afternoon one of Amara’s very good friends had yet another birthday party. Birthday theme — Toy Story Three and all of the kids were to dress as their favorite characters. Not many did but they were all having so much fun! Each of them had their very own sheriff’s badge with their name on it and a cowboy hat. They looked so cute in the bouncy house with their hats flying!
I didn’t stay long at the party but I’m so glad I got to go. Amara has some great friends and it was a wonderful weekend!
I should mention that Twursula thought it was the perfect weekend, too. Amara didn’t spend the night and she had Amara’s bed all to herself for the entire weekend. And she didn’t move much.
