Just about a year ago I explained why Grampy wears a tie to work! In case you don’t remember he really did it just to please Amara! He would do most anything to put a smile on that girl’s face!
Well Grampy got a new job! A new wonderful job where he works remotely from home. Amara was thrilled that he would now be home whenever they stop by. And since it is summer time and she is on vacation, hopefully that would be often. I shared with her my excitement about the money we would save on gas and that an added benefit of working from home would be he could be casual all of the time! No more just Casual Fridays, every day would now be a casual dress day.
Amara loves that Grampy wears ties and she loves buying him ties so she wasn’t keen on that part of his new job. I don’t know how she came up with it exactly but she somehow decided that since Grampy would no longer have Casual Fridays he should now have Formal Fridays! And that he should have to wear a tie! He wasn’t buying that idea but he humored her anyway. She even told all of this to her two BFFs when she told them about Grampy’s new job — “there will be Formal Fridays!”
So this morning Grampy put on one of his (and Amara’s) favorite t-shirts and one of his favorite ties! It wasn’t much later that Jenna called my on Google Video and she had Amara sitting next to her. Grampy proudly showed her that he was wearing his tie! She giggled and laughed and said “Aren’t you supposed to be wearing a good shirt, too?”
I think his response to her was “Not going to happen Marzie!”

Absolutely love it. After many years wearing professional dress including the dreaded heels, I love my jeans and cotton shirts. Tie and a Tshirt – great combination.
I’m with Grampy on this one. Now that I don’t work full time, some days I wear my pajamas well past noon.

Oh, the Formal Friday is SO much better than a casual Friday, for many reasons (including the alliteration). Grampy looks quite handsome in his T-shirt and tie. It’s so sweet he adores Amara enough to do anything for her, including wearing ties when he doesn’t have to. My hubby doesn’t even own a tie…and wouldn’t wear one for ANYone.
Uh oh, we best be coming up with another way to use those tie gifts. Who knows, maybe he’ll miss it ( yeah right) and be looking forward to Formal Fridays. Hurray for less commuting!
