I *love* True Grit! The original movie was a favorite of mine from the time I was a very young girl, have even written about that on my blog. How very cool to know the degrees of separation between myself and the writer of that beloved tale are so few. Very cool, indeed.
That said, the true grit of Amara and Grampy is the coolest I’ve seen yet. Very cool indeed! 😀
LOL. I’ve read the book and seen the first movie. I haven’t seen the remake, but my husband loved it. I’m assuming that Grampy isn’t close to his cousin, who is painted as being a bit reclusive in this article in the NYT.
I only met him once a long time ago. He and my father are first cousins I think. At any rate they were kids together and are still in touch. According to my father he’s a very genuine and unassuming person. His writing, at least in “Norwood” and “True Grit”, reminds me of Mark Twain more than anyone.

How did I not know that Grampy’s cousin wrote True Grit? That is very cool! Love the photo!!
What a cool fact, and a fun photo!
Love the photo and I loved both movies. How cool it is to be related to the writer?
Probably the closest I’ll ever be to Kevin Bacon.
