I’ve talked a lot about the fun I have at Jog-a-thon. Last year I told you about the Popsicle Party the PTA hosted for Amara’s class because they had raised the most money. Last year Amara was also the top fundraiser in the school. Guess what? Her class did it again this year and so did she! Her class raised $1308 for the PTA and Amara raised $427. The class was treated to a Popsicle Party and there was even a passing of the fund raising trophy from Amara’s 3rd grade teacher to her 4th grade teacher. I’m taking bets on whether her class will win it again next year! We need a three-peat!
This year in addition to the class that raised the most money having a Popsicle Party the PTA had planned a special event for about 35 students. It would include the top fundraiser for each grade and the student from each grade who had run the most laps. It was a special magic show and you had to have your special ticket to get in! Each student was treated to a fresh bag of popcorn, another Popsicle and a bottled water. Rumor has it the treats never made it to the curtain going up. Much like when I used to go to the movies. I always had my popcorn finished before the show ever started. I think it is so great that these students received a special reward for all their efforts. The PTA Rocks!
You can tell by the look on Amara’s face that she had fun!
Congrats to Amara & her class! They did a great job! The magic show was a fun bonus prize! I’m sure it was lots of fun memories for all! You are right, the Santiago PTA rocks!
Thanks Sandy! I do think they deserved a reward and Amara sure seemed to like it!
Wow. That’s great for Amara and the PTA. She look so happy.
I guess she was called up on stage at some point β she was pretty excited!
Great combination you’ve got there – kids willing to do their part, plenty of qualified volunteers and a PTA that has vision. Congrats to Amara. π
I’ve got to say it isn’t always easy for them to get those volunteers! But those who do volunteer make up for all of the others!
Perfect finishing touch to a great event! I love it when kids see a reward for their efforts. When Mary Jo was in 4th grade she was the top class fund raiser. I think there was a prize too, but she most enjoyed hearing her name announced over the PA. Sure, the guys that daddy worked with would hide when they saw him coming with her sales flyer, but he sure brought home those award winning orders!
Cute picture of Amara having a ball with the magician!
Oh I should have mentioned the 101 (I think that number is right) fundraisers who now get their name in lights on the marquee out in front of the school! How cool is that? But yes, hearing your name β or hearing your childβs name, over the loudspeaker is awesome!
Congratulations to Amara and her class!
As for popcorn, I can’t seem to make it last through the previews, either. π
My silly sister actually eats her popcorn without butter! For me theater popcorn is such a treat! We used to go to the movies often, but even the matinees have become really expensive!
I have said it before, but that school and everyone so actively involved sounds like a dream come true.
It is a great school and they are great parents! Now, if we could just get a few more involved… It always seems to come down to the same people doing it all β but at least they do! Really glad I get to be part of it!
WOW Amara and her class did such a wonderful job collecting money for such a worthy cause π
I love how caring and kind these children and Amara sound… is is wonderful Kc π
There is no doubt that Amara does so well because she has the support of her family, including her extended family. It motivates her to do well. She does have a great group of friends and classmates, too!
What an uplifting and happy event for all concerned! The lady that TALKED ABOUT THE school in her reply, said it well. What a wonderful, nurturing and giving school, growing wonderful kids for their future. The generosity of all concerned is certainly to be applauded!
Thanks Sarah! She does go to a great school with a wonderful group of parents and teachers. I am often amazed at the education β on so many levels β that she is getting at a public school! Plus, her Mommy and Daddy are raising her right! Like both of them she is a very giving person!
You really do have a fantastic school and PTA there…and congrats to all of you wonderful volunteers and happy, involved, enthusiastic kids, including our little rock-star, Amara! π
Jenna and Monique have done an amazing job of leading the PTA and accomplishing so much in the last 2 years. It really is fun to volunteer and yes β Amara is a rock star!
Ohmigoodness! That is stupendous! Congratulations to Amara AND to her class. Quite impressive indeed!
