Make overs all around

Last week when Amara was over and we were having fun with our facial masks, she mentioned that she wanted to do make-up. Her Mom had recently given her some old make-up and she had bought a little on her own. I remembered how much fun Sandy said she had playing make-up with her granddaughter Kendal so I told Amara she should bring her make-up sometime. Well, that sometime was the next time of course!

Sandy and Kendie in full make-up

Last week when we had been so disappointed in Amara’s peel off mask, we had gone in search of one of the old kind. We found a cucumber peel off mask at CVS. She had taken one home and I took one home to wait for her next visit. It seemed only right that we should do her facial before doing her make-up. Amara did my make-up too and she did a very nice job, we just never got a picture of me!

Once we were done with her make-up, she “chalked” her hair and mine. She then asked if she could chalk Grampy’s hair. He had fun letting her do it and he looked rather good with green and blue hair and a purple beard!

We have so much fun!

I have to admit, this was not what I expected when Kendal asked if I wanted her to do my makeup!!! After she did mine, it was her turn .. and just as I was getting started, her daddy walked into the room and said, “Oh, let me do it!” Needless to say, our stomachs were sore from laughing.

Amara did a great job on Grampy’s hair and beard! It’s wonderful to be able to be a kid again with our grandkids! It helps keep us young!

I have to admit I was hoping Amara wouldn’t do my makeup like Kendal’s. I would have loved to have seen her Daddy in make-up. You guys will have to do him next time!

By the huge smile on Amara’s face, everyone had a great time. Grampy sure is a good sport. I remember the facial peels, I could use one of those myself.

Smiles all around, and that is always a good thing. Makeup? She is growing up, Grandma, and playing with it means the days of wearing it aren’t too far ahead. :-) Girls and young women are so naturally beautiful that it makes you smile and sometimes just takes your breath away. Amara is a beautiful young lady inside and out. Good genes and role models. :-)

Her smile really does light up a room. I’m glad she has some teachers at school who won’t allow make-up other than a lip gloss or something. I don’t think it hurts them to wait or to learn it is more for special occasions. She is growing up much too fast but I really like the person she is becoming.

What a great time it looks like everyone had!!! I remember doing makeup with some of the girls when they were younger. Sometimes they do my nails now. Love your blog and Amara will love this journal of your life together you have for her. Happy Grandparents Day today

Happy Grandparents Day to you, too! Thanks for stopping by. Amara usually does her nails with Jenna who happens to be obsessed with nail polish!

She is not only pretty outside but inside, too! I am a lucky Grandma! We always have such fun doing silly things. It is even more fun when we can include Grampy!

Happy Grandparent Day! Although, with the three of you, it’s Grandparent Day every day! You three never seem to run out of cute and fun things to do – and they always take a wacky twist – which is why it’s so much fun to come here and read about your adventures!

Aww…! Even Grampy got made over to some degree. :-D So precious and so fun for all!

Cucumber masks remind me of my mom. She got the Avon ones for years (perhaps still does). I used to do them sometimes, always with the goal of peeling off the mask with no tears.

Fun stuff, my friend! Amara has THE best grandparents!

I should check out Avon’s online site! Never even thought to do that – thank you!

I can’t wait for you to be a local grandma! You are going to love it!

I still love putting glue in my hand and peeling it off. I imagine a whole face one is even better. Bugg’s mom just had a selfie on fb with a black mask on. I will have to ask her what that was. All of mine love make-up play and anyone close by is going get the treatment. Such fun.

I remember doing that! Jenna loves to peel things — sunburns, wall paper, anything. Amara gets it from her.

When I look back to my childhood, my playing with my mother’s make up always is a part of the memory. I just loooove it. Experimenting on colors and combinations. It’s a surprise though that when I grew up I’m so simple I seldom wear make up. :)

You all look like you’re enjoying your make over sessions there.

I think when little girls are young they all want to wear make-up. Then you hit an age where you realize less is more except for special occasions. Then you get my age… and you need it!
