I can’t remember where I saw the idea but I had told Amara about this idea for coloring marshmallows. We do a lot of stuff with food color these days! She liked the idea so I had a fresh bag of marshmallows waiting when she got here. All you do is mix food color with water and put the marshmallow on a tooth pick for dipping. You can dip in multiple colors and multiple directions. We found their color got much brighter after they had dried. Watching Amara make them was so much fun.
But nothing was as funny as the Chubby Bunny Challenge she took with Grampy afterwards. I’ll let Amara explain it to you!

These two are so much fun! For the record Grampy ate a total of five in the challenge. Amara ate a LOT more marshmallows than that today!
That was awesome! Yay for Grampy, the Champion! Marzie, you put up a good fight, Honey! Ask him for a rematch!
I love the idea of a rematch! Our original plan was to color some of the marshmallows and use the rest to make Rice Krispy treats but we didn’t have enough marshmallows to do it. Someone eat a lot of them while doing the coloring! I think next time the kids come to visit you — Kendie should challenge Uncle Mark to the Chubby Bunny Challenge! I want videos of that!
I don’t think I could eat that many marshmallows and talk at the same time… lol… Amara looked like she had fun.
Valentina likes marshmallows and food coloring, I think she should do this with her friends on her upcoming birthday party… something fun to do and then they can eat them all after… I will get the bigger ones for them xox
Oh Valentina and her friends will love it! Coloring them really was fun and be sure to tell the girls they get darker after they dry completely. I also found that the regular food color works better than the new neon food color packs. If you got the regular sized marshmallows they could even challenge one another to the Chubby Bunny Challenge afterwards! I knew nothing about it but it is everywhere on YouTube!
The challenge is too funny. Grampy is a good sport. My grandchildren would love coloring the marshmallows. I may have to try this with them. It would be fun to use them for Smores.
They would make perfect Smores! I am not a fan of marshmallows but Grampy and Amara sure did enjoy them. It is the simple things that end of being the most fun!
I know other grandparents would disagree, and they are entitled to their opinions, no matter how misguided, but Amara is just the best!!!!!
I wish I could show the look she gave me later when I told her we had feet to keep our legs from fraying at the ends.
There are probably other grandparents out there that would disagree but Amara and I think you are the best! I’m glad we filmed this so everyone else could see just how entertaining the two of you are!
Too funny!!! Love it! I must share this idea with my grandsons. Grampy and Amara are the cutest buddies ever. I believe there needs to be a Amara & Grampy video series. 😀
It was Amara’s idea to tape the whole thing so I guess it depends on what these 2 get into next! They really are buddies! I bet your boys would have fun challenging one another!
Aww. How cute! Isn’t it funny how yummy marshmallows taste when you’re a kid? Today they taste like pure sugar to me. It’s the same with Peeps. I can clearly remember how they tasted when I was Amara’s age but they don’t taste like that now when I try them. Maybe it’s just my tastebuds that have changed. Hershey’s Kisses taste funny to me now and I loved them as a kid.
I do think our taste buds change dramatically. I’ve never been a fan of marshmallows or Peeps but I certainly agree that things like Hershey’s kisses don’t taste nearly as good as they used to. Either we change or the candy formulas have changed! They probably took out all the good stuff to make it healthier!
LOL! How darn cute can you get? I love seeing Amara “in person!” I know so much about her, but seeing her talk so animatedly and have so much fun with such affection for grampy adds a new dimension to this blog journal! Those tinted marshmallows are cute! Even though the thought of eating them makes me gag, I know kids just gobble them down with delight – and having a chance to dye them first would be a real trip!
You need to do this with your gang but with your boys you may need to find some gray and black food coloring!
Yum! I like marshmallows, but I don’t think I can do the challenge of eating so many and talking. 😛
Obviously neither could Amara!
Cutest. Video. Ever. I loved seeing Amara and her Grampy do the Chubby Bunny Challenge. They are so funny together! You had such a great idea to video it- thanks for sharing it with us!! 🙂 (I’m going to be saying “Chubby Bunny” and “pity the fool” in my head all day!! Lol!)
Having me tape it was all Amara’s idea! We had finished coloring the marshmallows and I asked her if she wanted to play a board game or something and she said she really wanted to challenge Grampy and maybe I could tape it! I laughed harder watching it than I did taping it! They are hysterical together.
Ha ha i cracked up when SHE cracked up half way through
Seriously for a girl that likes to rainbow color everything this was a great idea!! 🙂
I can’t watch it without cracking up all over again! You better not try this with your gang of grands. That is way too many kids to be sugar rushing together in your little home!
Oh, I can picture this happening with our grands…well, three of them, at least. Will have to see whether Poppy is up to the challenge!! Thanks for a great idea!
Well if Poppy didn’t want to do it you could always give it a try! I bet they would love competing with you, too! Thank you for stopping by AmaraLand. You came a very long way!
As you know, I am in VA visiting the grandkids. Kendal and I just watched this video together and we loved it! She is not only challenging Grampa Mark to this, but me as well when she comes up for a visit this summer!!! Can’t wait to beat the pants off of both of them!!! If you win, does it mean you have the biggest mouth???
In the words of Grampy “Bring it!” You will have to get one of the other kids to run the camera. I can’t wait to see those videos!
Kendal and I have decided that we shouldn’t just jump right into this challenge. As with any sporting event, you need to train! So we’re going to need to get to the store to buy marshmallows!!
Grampy was willing to be challenged with no practice! I think they have intimidated you two already. Cowards!
Not cowards! It was just a good excuse to eat more marshmallows!!! {wink wink}
Oh, what a fun contest between two best buddies. I love it, and I love marshmallows. 🙂
An evening with the two of them is just the best! They are constantly poking at one another and giggling about everything!
Chubby Cheeks is the only chubby you can accuse Amara of. Too fun and so bright and cheery.
Amara does come from along line of tall slender people on both sides of the family. She told her mom she wanted to gain weight when she gets older so she can go on World’s Biggest Loser. I doubt she will ever make it!
