My Pony Persona

A couple of months ago during one of our sleepovers I was putting Amara to bed and we were just chatting. She told me she was getting very good at using paint.net on her computer. She knows of my love of Photoshop so I love hearing about what she is learning to use. She’s also been learning GIMP! I told her that I would love it if she would show me some of what she is learning online. I love that she not only spends her Saturday afternoons at art class using brushes and paints but is also becoming very adept at using a mouse and stylus to create electronic art.

The next morning after we finished making more of our awesome pancakes Amara took her chalk outside and started drawing. It came out beautiful but it was too windy outside and headed for the computer. Amara's drawing a My Little Pony with chalk Amara remembered that I wanted her to show me paint.net. She had to create a painting to show me how it really worked and so “Lady” was created. My very own My Little Pony Persona! It was so fun as she explained all the tools and how to use them.

What a great way to spend the morning!

She really is very good at drawing eyes and putting that little catch of light in them. Wish I had her talents.

It really is fun to sit down at the computer together. She loves doing a typing game where you race cars as you type. She doesn’t care that I type much faster than she does it is still fun to do together.

Amara has me beat. I’m very good with Photshop but hand me chalk and I am hopeless! She can do both.

Blossoming talent for sure! How wonderful that she spends Saturdays painting. The Red Horse is absolutely precious. You have to be really proud and certainly delighted that she is so very creative, Thank you for sharing.

That is certainly high praise coming from someone with your talents! I’m so glad she got the artistic gene as well as the techno gene.

I love the way all the adults in Amara’s life work together to introduce her to so many experiences. And it seems that instead of just picking one or two to excel in, she masters them all! She’s as comfortable on the computer as she is in the art studio, the classroom, the kitchen and the gym!

I love that Amara is growing up exposed to so much and being so well rounded! It will be interesting to see where it all takes her. This week’s career choice is a veterinarian but the kind that takes care of unusual animals like rabbits and hermit crabs!

Oh wow. You guys create some masterpieces together! GIMP is very complicated, so kudos to her. One of my clients made me download it to edit photos to his exact specifications. I didn’t work for him for long after that.

I’ve never tried GIMP myself but Photoshop sure has a huge learning curve. Bet your glad that you can walk away from clients who make life difficult!

I can totally see her taking over for Joyce! Jenna and Justin are both so creative and pay such attention to detail and Amara will have to out do them!

Very true. I am humbled by Justin’s programming skills – and amazed by his writing skills, attention to detail, and how he takes the time to his knowledge on to Amara’s friends on “Bring your father to school day” or whatever it might be called.

I feel frustrated sometimes knowing all the things my camera and my computer can likely do, but it is so hard to find the time to get to it. It is always great to have a mentor.

I would love to be an apprentice to a really good photographer! I learn so much better hands on.

How cool!!! Amara has been amazing me since … let’s see, what date was she born? One of my favorite memories is when she was only a few months old and we went to the kids house for a party; when I wanted to hold her Justin said she’s kind of fussy. But when I held her and told her how pretty she was it was all big smiles for both of us.

I am sorry to take so long to reply but I did want to thank you for stopping by! Chalk is absolutely one of Amara’s favorite past times! You add water and you have chalk paint!
