Shades of Silliness

It has been weeks since Amara spent the night with us. Between all the activities and my bout with the shingles last weekend was the first chance we had. We had fun! We made Apple Fritter Monkey Bread! More on that later.

I think the most fun of the weekend was bath time! Bath time is always more of a fun time at Grandma’s than it is at home. Here she is allowed up to four types of bubble bath and all the time she wants! Of course, I am always on the lookout for new and fun bath time essentials. Fortunately, I had picked up some Crayola Bathtub Fingerpaint Soap from the dollar bin at Target because we had complete failure with the glow sticks I had gotten at the Dollar Tree! That has never happened before but only 1 of the 5 would work! You can’t have much of a glow in the dark bath with only one glow stick. Saved by Fingerpaint soap! She loved it and did her best to see how much she could use up in one bath! She painted herself in all 4 different colors. When she started painting her face, I was required to hold up a mirror so she could see how she looked. Getting the camera and showing her there just seemed easier! I think the only thing that got her to stop was the disgusting brown color the bath water was turning!

Did I mention she had a blast and slept like a rock!

That’s our girl!!! When does she not sleep like a rock, even when she thinks she’s not sleepy.

    Number 5 is scary.

Lots of silliness! Makes up for all those rushed showers she has to take at home! I think it helps keep her young, too! She is growing up way too fast!

I love the blue face in the bubbles! (Sounds like the title of an art masterpiece… “Blue Face in Bubbles.”)

What great fun. My grandsons have gone to primarily showering since it’s easier on Mom (except for the baby, who still bathes). I need to give them a fun bath night next time we’re together. I’ll pick up some of these bath crayons! Thanks for the idea for some good clean fun… except for the resulting brown water, of course.

I think it is that way at many homes. Bath time becomes shower time and it isn’t a leisurely play time anymore. It is that way at Amara’s and I think she really does love the FUN of her baths here! I bet the boys will just love painting one another!

Kc… I’m glad I know you through the blogging world… I hope to meet you some day. My guy has been in pretty well every state and all the provinces. I just need to get time to go with him… I’d love that..????

Amara is growing up so fast… it looks like she had a ball… lately I’m lucky to talk Valentina into a shower… I need to find some of those finger paints to remind her how much she loved long baths ?

Hi Launna! I would love to have the opportunity to meet you live and in person! Southern California is a wonderful place to visit! If you get my way we will definitely make it happen!

Amara showers at home, too and like Valentina wants to avoid it! But bath time is a totally different thing! She has told lots of her friends about how much fun baths by candle light with glow sticks in the tub is the best!

Sweet and loving you, always helping to make wonderful memories, and the picture really does tell the story. What special fun! I thought the monkey bread sounded so good. I must be hungry. As always, you tell the story so well, with every detail a picture in my mind! Thank you for sharing. You write so well! sarah

That’s cute! Amara is beautiful no matter what color she decides to paint her face! And what fun and giggles are reserved for just time at grandma and grandpa’s house – every kid should be so lucky! I’m sorry you had a bad experience with Dollar Tree – we usually have not had any problems. However, one night on our way out to a night hike, just one of the three didn’t work. Fortunately, we were at the twins’ house and mommy had an extra – but that’s frustrating.

I think it was the pictures you sent me of Kendie painting your face that inspired me! You’ll have to get her some of these and get your camera ready!

I am betting that Noli will love it! And for $4 and lots of baths, you can’t beat the price!

Still a beloved activity at Playdate, painting yourself. So fun. Yeah, that brown water is a bit of a turn off after all the brilliant colors, yucck.

Amara would have a blast at one of your play dates! It is even more fun when you have someone else to paint!

Thanks, Donna. I would give anything to have her eyelashes — she got those from her Dad!
